Have you ever wondered what it would be like to use hand tools such as the plan, saw and chisel like a craftsperson. Come join us for this hands-on one-day workshop and experience the joy of making your own hard wood Cambridge Chopping Board.
This course is designed to take you from little or no experience to confident and capable with hand tools.
You will learn:
- How to use hand tools such as planes, saws and chisels properly. Including a bandsaw.
- The essential woodworking tools and their safe use.
- Drilling, planning and sanding your chopping board.
- Finishing using food-grade wood oil.
All materials are included, along with refreshments and, of course, your take-home chopping board.

Build a Tool Tote Box or Garden Tote using traditional woodworking techniques.
This two-day course is a perfect introduction to working with wood. Combining practical skills with informative teaching and the satisfaction of creating a finished piece to take home. During the day you will be taught to safely use various woodworking machines and hand tools.
You will learn:
- Accurate measuring and marking out.
- Cutting and assembling traditional joints.
- Glueing, clamping, and safe workshop practice.
- Sanding, finishing, and detailing
You will leave with a completed piece of furniture and genuine confidence working with timber and tools.

Furniture Foundation Course – 5 days

Level – Those who have completed our 1- or 2-day experiences.
This is an immersive week in the workshop for those wanting to develop deeper furniture-making skills.
Over five days, you will have the flexibility to design and build a solid timber side table or stool - guided through each stage of the process with structured, hands-on instruction.
This course focuses on understanding the material as much as the method — building both skill in using hand tools and all the common woodworking machines.
This course will leave you ready to set-up your own shop and go make something beautiful for you, your family or friends.
This course covers:
- Design
- Timber selection and preparation
- Safe and correct use of workshop machinery and power tools
- Recap on hand tool use.
- Traditional joinery techniques
- Accurate fitting and alignment
- Assembly and gluing.
- Surface preparation and finishing.
With a maximum of six participants, the course allows for proper supervision, guidance and individual attention throughout the week.
